Sir Ratcliffe targets ex-Chelsea player to replace Ten Hag after poor performance

The British press reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe could completely replace Erik ten Hag with coach Graham Potter if the Dutch strategist cannot help Man United improve.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe meets coach Graham Potter

According to The Sun, Sir Jim Ratcliffe had a meeting with coach Graham Potter and highly appreciated the former captain of Chelsea and Brighton.

The British billionaire is not currently considering firing Ten Hag but will reconsider the situation if Man United does not change its form.

The home team at Old Trafford has not had a good record since the beginning of the season. The Red Devils were officially eliminated from the Champions League after a disastrous 0-1 defeat to Bayern Munich at home, and also no longer played in the Carabao Cup after losing to Newcastle.

Although Man United is ranked 6th in the Premier League rankings, the Red Devils' shaky form still makes the team's owners worried.

Sir Ratcliffe is preparing to complete the acquisition of 25% of Man United's shares in a deal worth 1.3 billion pounds, which will help him control football activities at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Graham Potter has been unemployed since being fired by Chelsea in April 2023. Potter turned down several opportunities to return to coaching.

This is not the first time the former Chelsea coach caught the eye of the president of INEOS sports group. In May, Potter was tipped as a favorite to take over at Sir Ratcliffe's Ligue 1 side Nice following the departure of Didier Digard.

The British military leader was said to have received the support of Nice's board of directors, but the role was eventually given to Francesco Farioli.
